Porter-ism

Tonight I was reading Porter a story before bedtime. The evening's selection, "B is for Buckaroo." Obviously this is an alphabet book. Well, letter P describes Pecos Bill, who saddled a cyclone as legends tell.

Porter pointed to the cyclone and said, "Mommy that looks 'tary." (That's SCARY in Porter speak."

I said, "Well, buddy, that's a cyclone he's riding,"

Porter's response, "No Mommy, that's a TOE-MADO."

Heck, I'm impressed he even knew what a tornado was...

Zoo Days

Though the weather is still a little chilly, we couldn't ignore the beautiful sunshine today. The boys and I headed to the Riverbanks Zoo this morning to meet Sarah, Amanda and William. Sarah and I decided to bring picnic lunches for everyone, and it was a great morning to let all 4 kids run free. I must admit, having this membership is one of my most favorite things. I love the fact that we can take the boys 7 days a week, and they never get tired of seeing all the animals.

The farm at the Zoo is always a hit, so we headed there first thing. And what did we find but a runaway turkey. Now, I am NOT a fan of birds. I have always found them slightly creepy, so when I turned the corner and discovered this big guy had come out of his pen, I was less than pleased. But, the Riverbanks staff claimed he "gets out all the time," so they just let him run around for awhile. Needless to say, we didn't hang around too long!

Porter and Amanda

After lunch, we let the kids run off what ever energy they had left at the zoo's playground. The slide was a big hit, and even William braved the big one (Bowman wasn't quite so sure about the whole thing.) The kids had a blast and Sarah and I enjoyed the beautiful morning out in the fresh air.
