Chicken Curse? What Chicken Curse??

The Gamecocks made history last night...not only did they become the baseball NATIONAL champions, but they earned this title while playing the last game ever at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska. We Gamecocks fans having been yearning for one of these moments for as long as I can remember...and we finally got it! I've always been proud to call myself a Carolina Gamecock, but last night, this fine team did something a lot of folks didn't think was possible. They lost their first game at the College World Series, but became unstoppable after that, including back-to-back wins against our in-state rival Clemson!! On a side note: props to Clemson...how exciting to have BOTH schools in that championship!!! How many states can say that!!! Anyway, welcome home boys!!! You did your state proud!!!!!!!

A Nash-tastic Good Time!!!!

Last Wednesday (well, June 9th to be precise), I headed to Nashville with my friends Tori and Adair for the Country Music Association's Music Festival. We met my sister and 5 of her girlfriends there. The trip has been planned for months and, though our original hotel flooded during Nashville's horrific disaster, we managed to make other arrangements at the Holiday Inn near Vanderbilt University. The accomodations were not quite as fancy as the original but, honestly, we couldn't have cared less. Once we got into town and figured out how this whole thing works, we were perfectly content with our hotel as a comfy place to rest our weary heads at the end of 4 very long days. The festival was amazing; I have never been to Nashville and I must say the city is way fun! There was tons to see and do, the locals were way friendly, and everyone there just wanted to have a good time...does it get much better?? Plus, we saw some amazing performances: Jason Aldean, Craig Morgan, Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, and Keith Urban just to name a few. Really, truly SO MUCH FUN....Can't wait till next time!!!!

Picking up our tickets and super fancy tote bags!

Cooling off in the cranberry bog on Broadway...I have to say, I have NEVER been that hot and sweaty...literally, we would sweat ALL day. Thank goodness for "free" hotel showers!!!!!

Our only brush with fame(???)...my sister and I caught Bucky Covington on his way to the bathroom at our hotel. He's definitely had some work done to his teeth since his American Idol days!!!

Pre-concert drinks at Tootsies...yeehaw!!!

Tim McGraw...this man gets better looking with age!!! Just sayin!!

Carrie Underwood

Zac Brown Band

And, of course.....
KID ROCK!!!

Summer Style!

Saturday morning, Craig and I took Bowman to get his 1st haircut. Honestly, I was dreading it...for 2 reasons. One, his 1st haircut meant my little baby boy was getting big, which is a reminder to me that he won't be a BABY for much longer (boo!) AND, Porter screamed through his 1st haircut (to this day I still have no idea how Yolanda managed to cut his hair!) and I was a little worried Bowman would do the same thing! But, it had to be done...Bowman's hair was beyond unruly; both my boys are blessed with my curl, which means they can get away with longer hair...but, at 19 months, it was finally time to go. We went to Hairdoodles on Forest Drive, and Yolanda again got to cut the little Rummel boy's hair...
Bowman's BEFORE picture!

Bowman was so calm...he just held my hand the whole time and never made a peep. I don't think he was necessarily pleased with the whole experience, but wasn't frightened either. YAY!

And AFTER:
What a handsome BIG boy!!!!!

New York, New York!!

A few weeks ago, I headed to New York City with some of my bestest friends in the whole wide world. We met 15 years ago (ugh! that makes me feel REALLY old) as pledge sisters at Carolina, and have been so close ever since. We have religiously done trips together for years, but decided to step things up a notch with a trip to The Big Apple since babies are more than likely done for all of us. So, for one long weekend, the 5 of us were without husbands or kids...a must for all you mommies out there!!! The City did not disappoint and, besides the crazy expensive nightly beverages, I would do it all again tomorrow...now we just have to plan the next trip. Sarah & Shannon, you're in charge of that one!!

The beautiful Statue of Liberty...from the Staten Island Ferry!

Sarah, Shannon, Andrea, Beth and me...friends forever!!!!

Ok...we're totally cool! But if you look closely between my head and Beth's you will see Jesse Williams (aka Dr. Avery on Grays!!!) It was our one celeb sighting!!

Sarah and I in Central Park...it's like a whole different world in there. If I lived in NYC, I would probably frequent it rather often. Kinda wish we had a place like that around here!!

Oh, and in case you missed us, here we are on The Today Show!! HILARIOUS!! I was actually a little bummed that Lester Holt wasn't there that morning, but the weather man came over and talked to us for awhile. Guess that's my 5 minutes of fame, right??
